Sometimes
Sometimes we have gladness
Sometimes only pain
Some times we have sunny days
And at others only rain
For we must have our bad times
To appreciate the good
If all our times were happy
It would weaken us, our blood
Would not be able to hold up
Our bodies they would fail
We must have times of hardship
Or our souls would just go stale
And then if ever came a time
When things became much worse
We would not then be able
To overcome the curse
We would submit to fever
We would submit to pain
We would be very, very sad
And not rejoice again
So, welcome pain and sadness
They really do some good
For they are how we measure
How much our lives improve
We are going away
I am going on a trip to t'other side o' World
New Zealand is my place for a month or so
Vera's coming with me, she does need a break
So we're off, once the rain stops, and the snow
We have booked the taxi, the plane and the trains
We have booked the tour guide and all that guff
Vera's busy packing and she wants a trial run
In case the cases won't hold all the stuff
So I have to dress today in the things I travel in
And we have to pack the cases, just like, so
And put them on the scales once they are all done
Oh no, they are too heavy! No, oh, no!
We have to brief the house-sitters also
As we cannot leave the premises all alone
That would not do, especially in Blighty
Empty premises, for a month, we can't condone!
